For me, names like Antonio Luna were just like supporting acts in Philippine History.

I am not a movie critic, so I apologize if some of my observations did not match yours or did not give justice at all.īut who would care for those minor details if the full movie raised up something that had been dormant in our souls right? I personally did not give much of attention to the lives of other national heroes other than Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio. I think that part was given less attention.

I’m sorry if I say this but the way Rizal got shot in the movie was not even close to what we already knew ever since, the actor in this movie did not face the shooters the way Dr. It actually took me some time to realize that he was playing Rizal, thanks to the narration and his hairdo that I was able to confirm that it was him eventually.

I do not know the actor who portrayed Rizal in the movie but also, he was not the moreno Rizal we’ve known in Philippine History.
Heneral luna movie stream skin#
But his skin did not affect his acting so it’s fair enough. Jose Rizal based on their black and white photos from the past, oh there I spill it! I am a huge fan of Paolo Avelino but he was very mestizo-skinned in the movie that no one would ever consider him as a natural-moreno Filipino. Especially that we thoroughly know the faces of Gregorio del Pilar and Dr. To be an audience of this reality-based film, I typically look at this as a big factor because it’s the way I relate to the movie – I base it on facts. John Arcilla for doing such a great job there! However, one factor that made the movie downgrade a little was that some of the historical Filipino soldiers and personalities don’t look even similar to those that they portray. Antonio Luna personally but historians had described him the way Arcilla portrayed him as arrogant, brusque, high-tempered, authoritative yet a highly skilled war strategist in the movie. I can’t imagine other actors would pull off the role so well like John Arcilla. Viewers having Tagalog/Filipino as their first language would surely understand what I mean because the main reason why we laughed so hard was because of the blunt and arrogant Tagalog script that came out so naturally perfect from Heneral Luna himself. For other historical movies of the same genre, this may come out as a negative point, but Heneral Luna made it so well that the comedic acts came out so naturally. This made the movie stand out and this may have been the main reason why it became a crowd-pleaser, we Filipinos are biggest fans of laughter. It has comic introductory plots that made the viewers blurt out laughter. I can’t say that it’s a perfect film though. Definitely not! I am very proud of the filmmakers of this masterpiece (credits to the writers, scriptwriters and directors) for materializing such an toriginal Filipino historical film like this: entertaining and educational. Say that again? Shut up! This movie is never one of the boring and typical historical/action movies like the others. Well, I have to discuss that at the latter part of this post. You may have some stupid questions if you did not have any background at all about Philippine history like: “why Apolinario Mabini kept on sitting all movie long?”. Whether you studied Philippine history or not, you will be able to understand the plot. Everyone who will watch it will surely relate to it. Ngunit akala ko lang pala iyon, sapagkat ang buong pelikula ay para sa lahat. Sa una, akala ko ay isa na naman itong pelikulang hango sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas na para lamang sa mga maaalam. I know… I have an inappropriate expression infront of a serious General. If you ask me about the movie Heneral Luna, I would say that this is by far the best movie that the Filipino Film industry has ever produced (based on those that I only watched).
